Welcome to the HAEA Homeschool Group web site. HAEA serves homeschooling families in Houston, Texas. HAEA (Houston Alternative Education Alliance) is an inclusive/nonsectarian association of homeschooling families in the Greater Houston area. We have members from Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston, and Montgomery counties. Our members hold monthly meetings, park days, and field trip activities in which we share support and information pertaining to our families growth outside institutionalized educational settings. Families of all faiths, philosophies, and perspectives are welcome.

Groups provides us a single e-mail address and website to share information, plan events, keep a calendar, receive reminders, and access homeschooling links, databases, and archived messages, etc. As a member of HAEA, you will have access to the Yahoo! group. SOME OF HAEA'S ONGOING EVENTS: This is a sample of some of the ongoing events HAEA sponsors, as well as events coordinated by HAEA members. Contact information and meeting times are provided to members through the private mailing list. Monthly Park Days: HAEA's monthly meeting/play date is held in a Houston area park each month. Sometimes we enjoy a holiday potluck picnic, party, or even a home-made carnival! Educational Field Trips: HAEA members have organized classes at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, floating classroom trips in Matagorda and on the Trinity River, astronomy classes at the George Observatory at Brazos Bend, day camps, and much, much more. Cultural Field Trips: HAEA members have organized outings to visit such venues and see world-class performance companies as Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, Main Street Theater, A.D Players, Miller Outdoor Theater and many more. Our homeschoolers have seen fine performances of "The Nutcracker," "The Velveteen Rabbit," and "Cinderella." TAP/TAL: Teens at Play/Teens Always Learning is a group for teen (13+) homeschoolers and their families. TAP/TAL holds social events and learning activites (planned by the teens and their families) specifically designed for teens: Homeschool Girl Scout Troop/Central: Meets weekly in the Central Houston/Heights area. K-6th grade. Field trips, crafts, and camping. Contact . Homeschool Girl Scout Troop/Southeast: Draws from Pasadena, Pearland, Clear Lake, Friendswood, and La Porte. Brownies, Juniors & Cadettes in 2004-2005. Beginning in 2005-2006, we'll be adding a Daisy/Brownie troop! Contact Laura: 281-997-8141 or . Tennis: Bi-weekly group, Clear Lake area. Bowling: Weekly group, Clear Lake area. South Side Park Days: Meets in a South Houston/Bay Area park, Fridays from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.
